New Year’s Eve has come and gone. It was great ringing 2015 with great parties and custom cocktails in Atlanta, GA. Now we’re all working on losing those extra pounds we gained while overindulging in holiday goodies and our favorite foods. Don’t forget if you are counting calories that your daily alcohol consumption (in the form of your usual favorite cocktail) may add anywhere from 250 to 450 calories to your daily total depending on its sugar content.
Don’t despair. There is no need to skip your cocktail before dinner when there are wonderful low calorie cocktail recipes of just 180 to 200 calories available to make and enjoy. Let’s examine one called Pineapple Gin Fizz. The recipe calls for the following ingredients:
- 1.5 ounces of gin
- 1/4 cup of ginger ale
- 2 tablespoons of lime juice
- 1 1/4 cups diced fresh pineapple
Put a cup of the diced fresh pineapple in your blender. Set on puree. Hold back 1/4 cup of the pineapple for a garnish on the finished beverage. When the puree is complete, strain the pineapple juice into a glass filled with ice. Now add lime juice, ginger ale and the shot of gin to the glass. Give it a nice stir. Add several pieces of the remaining pineapple as a garnish.
A Pineapple Gin Fizz is a delightful taste of the tropics on a cold winter night. At the same time, its reduced calorie count will help you meet your goal of looking good in a bathing suit when summer days finally do arrive. The ingredients listed above are readily available in local stores and easy to keep on hand.
